Portrait of the Artist

Portrait of the Artist

A self-portrait is an artistic representation of oneself, created by the artist. It can be made in various mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, or digital art. Self-portraits go beyond simply capturing a likeness; they often reflect the artist’s emotions, identity, and personal perspective. Some self-portraits are highly realistic, while others may be abstract, symbolic, or experimental, offering insight into the artist’s inner world and creative vision.

In this exhibit, we welcome artists to submit their own self-portraits.

Entry Rules:

  • Artists may submit up to two pieces.

  • All wall-hung art must be framed, on gallery-wrapped canvas, or if on wooden panel, presented with neat-looking sides, either painted or left raw.

  • Pieces must be securely wired with D-rings or eyelet hooks. No sawtooth hangers will be accepted.

  • To keep our gallery appropriate for visitors of all ages, we do not allow obscene images. Tastefully portrayed nude figures are generally allowed. Acceptance is at the discretion of BCA staff.

  • Entries must be delivered in person between May 20–23.

  • There is no entry fee required to submit artwork to this exhibit
