Acceptance Announced

Artists will be sent an email, and a list of accepted entries will be posted on our website. Postcards will be mailed to artists who elect to receive notification by mail.

ENTRY FEES
General Entry Fee: $40 for up to two entries, or $80 for three or four entries.
Member Entry Fee: $30 for up to two entries, or $60 for three or four entries.
Students with valid College ID: $20 for up to two entries
Payments may be made with cash, card, or check. Checks may be made payable to Belton Center for the Arts. Entry fees are non-refundable.
Commission
Artwork will be available for sale, unless it is marked “NFS” (Not for Sale) by the artist. Belton Center for the Arts will retain a 30% commission on pieces sold via the exhibit. Artists should take this into consideration when pricing their artwork. Sold artwork may be picked up by the customer at the conclusion of the exhibition.
LIAbILITY
Belton Center for the Arts will handle all artwork with great care, but will not be responsible for loss or damage. Artists are encouraged to carry their own insurance. Belton Center for the Arts reserves the right to refuse any entry at its own discretion as well as the right to photograph & reproduce any entry for educational & promotional purposes. The receipt of an entry into the Juried Art Show will constitute an agreement by the artist with the conditions set forth in this prospectus.
ENTRY RULES
This exhibit is open to artists 18 years or older. Artwork may be shipped to our PO Box, or hand-delivered, but must arrive before September 7 at 2:00 PM. Artwork received by mail must include prepaid return label, or arrange in-person pickup. See “calendar” for complete list of deadlines and important dates.
Size Restrictions
Artwork should be no wider than 60 inches, and should weigh less than 50 lbs. Three-dimensional art should sit solidly on a flat surface without tipping.
Framing
All wall-hung art must be framed, on gallery-wrapped canvas, or if on wooden panel, presented with neat-looking sides, either painted or left raw. Pieces must be securely wired with D-rings or eyelet hooks. No sawtooth hangers will be accepted.
Novelty
Only original artwork, created by the artist within the past three years will be accepted. Artwork that has previously been displayed at BCA will not be accepted.

Members’ Choice Award: $500
Merit Awards
Merit Awards of $100 are selected by the juror in addition to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Purchase Awards
Purchase Awards are a program where donors agree to buy artwork at a set price of either $500 or $250. Before the entries are judged, these donors select the artwork they wish to purchase. The artist receives the full award amount ($500 or $250). Artists interested in being considered for a Purchase Award must indicate their interest on their paperwork, and only these indicated pieces will be eligible. Once selected, these pieces are automatically included in the exhibition, and the donor receives the piece at the close of the exhibit.

Juror: Kevin Kao
Born and raised in California, Kevin Kao is a ceramic sculptor exploring themes of self, humor, and narrative through the figure. Originally graduating with a degree in Biology, his interest in art stems from a desire to understand how the natural world appears the way that it does. Having exhibited in more than 90 exhibitions internationally, his work has been shown and featured in Atlanta Contemporary, Atlanta, GA; Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA; Kranzberg Art Foundation, St. Louis, MO; and The Washington Post. He has received many awards and recognitions, including the Warren MacKenzie Advancement Grant presented by the Northern Clay Center. He has earned a B.S. in Biology - Ecology, Evolution, and Animal Behavior from the University of California, San Diego; and an M.F.A. in Studio Art - Ceramics, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Kao currently lives and works in Greenville, SC where is also an Assistant Professor of Art at Furman University.
